Description
Chinese, circa 1720. Kangxi era Dutch market Export Famille Verte porcelain 'Provinces' armorial charger, having a diapered ground with figural landscape, floral and birds, and sea life reserves encircling the arms of the province of Overijssel (Overysel), partial H. Moog Atlanta, GA descriptive labels, to the back but otherwise apparently unmarked.
Note: This charger most likely comes from a series of 23 ordered in the 1720s after the signing of the Treaty of Utrecht. A related charger is in the collection of the Peabody Essex Museum, Salem, MA (inv. no. E85209).
