Satanstoe and The Chain Bearer by James Fenimore Cooper. These are the first two books in a three novel cycle that is a fictional autobiography which explores the 18th century colony of New York. Both first editions bound in one volume. Bound in contemporary black leather with a red marbled over paper, Satanstoe was published in 1845 by Burgess, Stringer, Co. and is 235pp. The Chain Bearer was published in 1845 and is 228pp. Two adverts between first and second volumes of Satanstoe.
Condition
Pages 42-43 have a torn upper right corner affecting the number 42. Damp staining throughout. Slight damage on first 10 pages at the upper right in the margin, other wise overall toning and some foxing spots present. h. 7.5", w. 4.5"
